On the afternoon of November 28, 2023, Yang Wenming, Chairman of Mintai'an Group, led a team to Beijing Normal University to participate in the launch meeting of the "Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Natural Disaster Comprehensive Risk Census Special Evaluation and Achievement Application Demonstration Project". The meeting was presided over by Professor Shi Peijun of Beijing Normal University, attended by Zheng Guoguang, Director and Yuan Yi, Deputy Director of the Office of State Popularization, and more than 20 experts from the Office of State Popularization, Guangdong Provincial Census Office, the National Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management, the National Institute for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the the Pearl River River Hydrology Research Institute of the the Pearl River River Water Resources Commission, Beijing Normal University, Sun Yat sen University, Mintai 'an and other institutions attended the meeting. Min Tai'an was the only representative of a private enterprise attending the conference.
At the meeting, Professor Fang Weihua from Beijing Normal University introduced the overall situation, technical solutions, and progress of the special evaluation and application demonstration of the comprehensive risk survey of natural disasters in the Greater Bay Area; Chairman Yang Wenming introduced the special evaluation and application prospects of the comprehensive risk survey of natural disasters in the Greater Bay Area by Mintai'an; Director Zheng Guoguang and Deputy Director Yuan Yi of the General Office of the State Council have put forward requirements and expectations for the regional scope, focal points, innovation points, and specific implementation measures of the special evaluation and application of results; Other attending comrades also introduced their respective organizations' main responsibilities, progress, and further work plans in this project; Professor Shi Peijun from Beijing Normal University summarized, responded to, and improved on the main issues discussed at the meeting, and put forward detailed requirements and suggestions for the next steps of work.
The meeting specifically discussed the issue of how to apply the results of the comprehensive natural disaster risk survey project in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. Professor Shi Peijun, Chairman Yang Wenming, Professor Fang Weihua, Dr. Xu Yao and others had a lively discussion on the characteristics of natural disaster risks in the Greater Bay Area, the main focus and innovation points of this special census, and how project results can be applied in the insurance industry, reaching many consensus with theoretical and practical value.
How to accurately identify and manage natural disaster risks has always been a key and difficult issue for the insurance and safety emergency industries. The concentrated breakthroughs in these issues have become increasingly important in the context of climate change and the frequent occurrence of various natural disasters. Min Tai'an has deeply participated in the "Special Evaluation and Achievement Application Demonstration Project of Comprehensive Natural Disaster Risk Census in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area", aiming to break down the barriers of "risk", "emergency" and "insurance" through the "technology application+service innovation" model, combine natural disaster risk census with insurance industry risk reduction services, enhance the ability of natural disaster risk census with safety emergency services, combine corporate social responsibility with national public crisis governance, explore and research in reshaping the concept of risk reduction services, accurately identifying risk areas, optimizing risk control models, promoting urban public safety and other aspects, and help improve the overall efficiency of insurance industry risk reduction services, truly play the functions of economic shock absorbers and social stabilizers, Furthermore, it will provide higher quality services for risk management and safety improvement in the Greater Bay Area.
